Manchester United are closing on a deal for a top summer target after agreeing personal terms, while a bid is on the table for a Ligue 1 star wanted by Liverpool, according to Sunday’s European papers.
MAN UTD STRIKE AGREEMENT FOR BRUNO FERNANDES
Manchester United are reportedly in the driving seat to sign Bruno Fernandes after making an offer to the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
The Portugal star has been linked with Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham and United, but it is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the driving seat to sign him after it was claimed they have reached an agreement over his package.
According to Portuguese paper Correio da Manha, United have offered the player a five-year deal worth £100,000 a week – and he is keen to move to Old Trafford ahead of all other interest. Spurs are said to have matched the offer, but the player has his heart set on United, though the report stresses that the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.
It’s suggested Sporting are seeking €70m (£62.6m) for the midfielder, who scored 28 goals and weighed in with 14 assists from midfield in all competitions this season.
And it’s claimed the fee will unlikely dissuade United, who believe the 24-year-old would prove a huge success in the English game.
