Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal are ready to battle for a Real Madrid playmaker, while four United stars will be shown the exit door this summer, according to Friday’s papers.
THREE-WAY FIGHT FOR COLOMBIAN PLAYMAKER
Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are all reportedly ready to battle for Colombia playmaker James Rodriguez, who is not expected to stay at Bayern Munich after his loan deal from Real Madrid ends this summer.
The 27-year-old was shipped off to the German giants on a two-year loan deal in 2017, having struggled to impress at the Bernabeu.
Despite enjoying more first-team football than he did in Spain, Rodriguez has been unable to fully settle at the Allianz Arena – scoring 15 goals and providing 20 assists in 67 appearances in all competitions, although he did help Bayern win the Bundesliga twice in that time.
The German giants had the option to purchase the attacker for £37million but, according to Sky Germany, Rodriguez was not keen on extending his stay in Germany.
He wants to return to Real Madrid where his representative, super agent Jorge Mendes, will discuss his next move.
However, it is expected that Rodriguez will have to look for another new club, with Real boss Zinedine Zidane planning a huge revamp to his first-team squad – targeting the likes of Eden Hazard, Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen.
The report in the Daily Mirror goes on to state that the Frenchman does not see the playmaker as part of his long-term plans, and this has alerted the attention of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool, United and Arsenal are all known admirers of the player but are expected to face competition from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
